What an interesting spine. Did you intend for it to come out like that (ie: grind it in?), or was that just the direction it decided to take during in the forging?

I've known a couple knives that just took on a life of their own under the hammer. Those stories about the soul in the steel aren't readily dismissed by anyone who's been there.

No. This time, yuk-yuk-yuk, it was by design! I'd had the end of the billet of the straight lame "celtic style" I'd done for Torvaldr, even though it's in seax form., ...also in this gallery, (leather guy SCA type) and turned the billet on it's ends. Hoping for a more dramatic effect? I was somewhat disappointed with it. So I started cross hatching, (think lightning) on the spine, and the future owner, ( my brother in law, Dr. Mike Delahanty of Penninsula Ohio ) fell in love with it. He supplied the antler horn crown, and this what the result.
It may sound to Yoga-Pagan-esoteric to believe in the life of steel. But deep down, ... I believe it. I've had billets fight me. I've had billets miss me, and come back. I've had knives, who the owner ground off my makers mark, and call their own, but the liar "lost it" and I find it in an antique dealer 1000 miles from my home, It's like it wanted to, come back to me? I know it's hokey. Stupid. Silly, and sounds like utter bull shit?
