Description

Okay. I had to pick a catagory, and so chose woodwork, because I've not featured any of my scabbards here before. Sorry for the out of focus pic, but this isn't a print.

We have a Pictish inspired spatha blade of pattern welded steel, (featured in my galley in other shots.) In a red-wood scabbard, brass pinned, along the elliptical edges, and hide glued. With beryl walnut, and sun burst beech inlay, and a veg tanned, baldric with Celt-Pictoi Romano era stiffener decorations. The throat is five times wound, and lacqured sinew, with a random pattern a damascus eyelet, (on the reverse side) are held on with sinew, hide glue, and pins. The chap is copper alloy, tension fit, pinned, and sinewed. I all sits on my Gaulic Auxiliary shoulder drape chain maille, with leather backing.

It doesn't seem like a pictish weapon to me-isn't the guard and handle material to recent, making it more of a scottish sword than a pictish? Regardless, it does look wonderful and quite useable.
