Not totally historically correct, but a good try.

I'm guessing the not-so-historically correct part would be the blue flannel shirt? XD
:iconoenghuslok47:
No. Silly. That padded garment is called a gambasson. It is NOT flannel. A woad, (blue) tartan would be appropriate for a Pict at this time. It is made of pure linen, with pure cotton batting, with an inner lining of also breathable linen. Totally historical. What is not is the shape and style of ax. A pictish Chief would have had a wrought iron ax, with a steel edge forge welded on. I just had this one handy.

Oh, haha. Well it looks like a flannel shirt to me. XD

But yeah, I know what you mean now. I'd just prefer a differentially heat treated steel axehead.

Hey now, are you sure about that lamellar? Just because it was at Bikra doesn't mean everybody had it everywhere... ;)

100% sure? No. Doesn't mean they didn't either! With all the "if's" in place.
Anything cool, like the Norris Law Horde suddenly "go missing" and we are left once again with guessing. The people with the know how, time, and inclination are scared of academic bias in this field, and tons of artifacts are laying uncatalogued, or misrepresented in museums. Lot's of Viking booty for instance in Vimose, Oslo, and other places is obviously stolen from the Orkneys, and Shetlands, but the Pict's get no respect. I wounder if "Dangerfield" was a Jewish Pict name?
Isn't it true that they found more lames of various lamellar sizes in Birka, (more than 700 plates) than anywhere else, other than reuse in Visby? Also numerous Valsgarde, Rus, Hun, Slav, Khazar, Lombardic, Carolingian, and Merovingian graves within 500 miles of Scotland roughly within the same time period and technological knowledge, with lamellar deposits of some degree, and yet...-almost no maille is ever found in tact, -and still all the high-end EU Reenactors poo-poo the lamellar? Whatchagonnado? Cast in point, See the huge hastings event and everyone is in a full maille haubergeon. When only upper escelon Miles would have been in it?

To date, any armor that does get found in NE Scotland Pre-post Roman, up to the Amalgamation of the Pictish Nations, is automatically attributed to the Romans or Scots anyway. I look at it like this? Everyone, in the period in question, 290 ACE - 845 ACE almost without exception used some sort of maille (Hamatas), scale (bronze), lamellar, segmentatas, ect, if they were high enough up the ranks, -and had the dough. In that thinking, ...If the Picts fought with and against, WON and lost to...Vikings, other Picts, Scots, Mid-Lothians, Northumbrians, Bretons, Romans, Saxons, Welch, and other Celts, they most likely had what everyone else had? The stones show some sort of outer defense, padded garments, (some surmise just a double layer of wool tunics is period) helms, round shields, and spears, with a sprinkling of swords. Sure, most went into battle with a tunic, shield, spear, and prayer. But for full contact purposes, I use Leather, horn, bone, and some mild steel tinned lamellar.
BTW the ax isn't period for that persona either.

On the nature would be more actual than a photo

I guess you're entitled to your opinion. The pic is to showcase the armor, but it was -30 degrees F outside, and I didn't want to dare it.
